  15. <p>     DIED. ROSWELL GILBERT, 85, the Florida engineer whose 1985 mercy
  16. killing of his wife Emily, who was severely afflicted with Alzheimer's
  17. disease and osteoporosis, thrust the issue of euthanasia into
  18. national consciousness; in Baltimore, Maryland. Sentenced to
  19. a minimum of 25 years behind bars for the shooting, he was granted
  20. clemency in 1990.
